Process Water Filtration

Excellent process water filtration can reduce costs

Process water is used in various industrial applications. The total volume of water used in these processes is very high, therefore water-saving technologies like filtration are highly recommended to reduce an organizations ecological footprint and total cost of ownership.

When water is used, there are costs involved in supplying and disposing of the water. If you can reuse the water, it reduces the costs.

Process water treatment

The industry needs a consistant stream of process water. This process water is used in many industrial processes such as, washing and spraying, product water, rinsing, boiler feed water, make-up water, coating and plating and cooling water for heat exchangers. Depending on your application the requirements of the water quality can vary. When treating process water, filtration is a crucial step. Solid particles and other contaminations such as microbial and organic contamination needs to be removed from the water. To provide the right quality of water and so choosing the right filtration solution for your process can be difficult, it depends on;

  • Type of liquid
  • Micron rating
  • Type and level of solids
  • Viscosity of the liquid
  • Process temperature
  • Operating pressure
  • Size of particles
  • Legal and quality requirements

The total volume of process water used in different industrial industries is very high. To reduce an organizations ecological footprint and total cost of ownership we recommend to use water saving technologies like filtration. Reuse the filtered water can reduce costs and it’s better for the environment.

What sources are there for process water?

The most common source for processwater is surface, river or sometimes potable fresh water. But potable fresh water can be expensive if you use a lot of processwater. Another alternative can be municipally treated wastewater or grey-water. Surface and river water intake as well as grey-water needs to be treated, it contains Microbial and organic contaminants, but also chemicals. The contamination depends on the geographical location. Some common contaminants may include; aluminum, ammonia, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chloramine, copper, fluoride, Bacteria & viruses, lead, nitrates/nitrites, mercury, perchlorate, radium, selenium, sliver and uranium.
